When you search for a deceased person in Dödsarkivet ”the Death Archive”, you will receive information if the person in question has passed away. We provide:

Can death be confirmed?

You can access information about whether a person has passed away. However, this information is not directly available on public websites. It must instead be obtained, which Dödsarkivet provides.

We provide information on deceased individuals from 1950 onwards.

Yes, we can, but you must provide the correct date of birth.

To retrieve information on a deceased person along with the date of death, you must provide the following:

  • Full first and last name
  • Date of birth or personal identification number
  • Last known city or town where the deceased was registered

You can request information for multiple individuals, but each request must be submitted separately.
